  Do people around you recognise sickle cell as a disability?

  I have seen first-hand how due to a lack of visual evidence, people may not take me seriously when I tell them I am disabled. I have experienced this at school, work and even amongst my peers. Sometimes I wish sickle cell had more symptoms that could be easily be identified. Can you relate?
