I had a sister with whom I bonded strongly with.

She was given several unfriendly, unfair and demeaning names because she was always terribly sickly. Little did I know she was suffering from SCD.

I left town briefly and when I came back, she was dead.

I don’t want to see anyone else suffering from SCD die a preventable death.

I’m an unashamed, emerging voice for the sufferers of SCD.
