My name is Terri Seymore-Green. I am 53 year old female living in Prince George’s County, MD. I was diagnosed with SCD 51 years ago when my parents took me to the hospital for high fever, excessive crying due to obvious pain, and unexplained ulcers on her right leg. During those days, there was no genetic screening to pre-diagnose diseases like this.
I’ve had some good years, months, and days, but I’ve also experienced some very rough periods of my life as a result of my illness. I have been blessed with two wonderful sons that doctors said I shouldn’t have and I even have a beautiful granddaughter who will be 2 years old in a few months. In spite of my challenges, I have an amazing life!
