I am the Executive Director for There Goes My Hero. We are a community based nonprofit that helps people with blood cancer by getting people registered on the bone marrow registry. Because sickle cell is a blood disorder and because bone marrow transplants are now being used to treat Sickle Cell Disease, I thought this would be a good forum. There Goes My Hero also started a program called Color The Registry which aims to diversify the bone marrow registry. We are reaching out to people of color to create awareness about the need for diversity on the registry.
