I was diagnosed with Sickle Cell Disease (sc hemoglobin) at age 11. I have had both hips replaced due to Avascular Necrosis, I have had over 80 blood transfusions, I lost my eyesight completely in both eyes. I now have vision in one eye but it is beginning to bleed again. I am 48 years old and I am eager to see a cure within my life time. I am grateful for all of the research and trials that are taking place now.
