How has sickle affected your career?
Sickle cell affects every aspect of one’s life, and a career is just one of these many areas.
For me, having sickle cell has impacted the number of hours I work. I have opted for a more flexible schedule to fit around my frequent appointments, as opposed to the typical 9-5. Sickle cell has also impacted the number of responsibilities I am able to take on as I have to be intentional when it comes to minimizing potential stressors for me. Stress is one of my biggest triggers of a sickle cell crisis.
