  How old were you when you started to understand sickle cell?

  How old were you when you started to understand what sickle cell is and the effect it has/had on you?

  I was 10/11 years old when I got my first proper description of what sickle cell really is and what causes a crisis.

  It was at this age that I started to do more research into what sickle cell is and what it means to be someone living with sickle cell.
