Summer is quickly approaching and it is common for people to travel during these warmer months. However, traveling can be a very dangerous task for a person with sickle cell. There is a high exposure to multiple crisis triggers when traveling.

When going on holiday, how do you ensure that you are best equipped to travel and what procedures do you take to reduce/mitigate the risk of getting a crisis?

Now that it is getting to the winter months, those of us with sickle cell have to be even more careful when it comes to travelling, especially by air.

One thing I do to ensure I am warm on a flight is to take an empty hot water bottle in my bag. I then ask a staff member to help fill it up.
