What resources did you use to teach yourself about sickle cell?

Michael, Believe it or not, My own personal experience came through a Medical Terminology class, when we had to talk and break down a particular disease, from prognosis, diagnosis, history, to self-care. It was then that I woke up and took interest in my own self-awareness, rather than what different doctors were telling me. My other resource was through a Sickle Cell Advocate.

Oh wow, is sickle cell something that is commonly taught within your educational system?
Also, could you please explain what a Sickle Cell Advocate is?

I feel like it is so rare for sickle cell to be taught in schools. What year/grade/educational level were you in when you were taught this?
